If you are planning to go on a vacation this summer - beware. Many airlines are
in the process of increasing the rate of tickets by adding a new surcharge on the
days of peak travel. This additional charge ranges from $10 - $35 for every
one-way domestic flight and is automatically included in the total cost of the travelers'
ticket. Southwest and JetBlue Airways have decided not to include this charge in
their prices but passengers will have to deal with it if flying Continental, American,
United, Delta and US Airways.
Of course, the passengers are not happy. Who would be, when they have to shell out
more from pocket for the same length of travel? But as usual, summer is the time
to increase profits for airlines. Between June 15 and August 20 this year, passengers
will have to pay extra fees on their air traveling. The only exception in this hike
is 4th of July which is the slowest travel day in the summer and so, the rates would
be kept the same on this date.
By speaking to passengers, we tried to find out how frustrated they are about this
additional traveling surcharge. Remember the time when in-flight meals were taken
off the menu? And then there was baggage fee that was initiated as a mean to cover
losses, and now this hike. Many air travelers say they've had enough. Summer is
the time when they want to be outdoors, and if not by plane then there are alternatives
available.
If the airlines are hard pressed to make money somehow, passengers are going to
save theirs anyhow. Some of them have plans to get them booked on trains and see
some country side in the process while others are trying to find lucrative deals
on car rentals.
For a stress-free trip, America Car Rental
provides affordable car rental
services in USA planned according to the need that don't dig a hole in customers'
pocket. Customers can pick from economy vehicles to full size vehicles for a trip
all at best prices.
