Airports in every country have heightened their security levels due to persistent
terror alerts from extremists. In such a time of adversity, flying can be made simpler
if you follow these simple safety tips:
Don't leave your bags unattended
This is basic but you'll be surprised to see people either carrying too much
luggage or simply doting around with a careless attitude and leave their bags unattended.
The airport policies are becoming stricter than ever and leaving your luggage alone
is the largest security breach you can make. In a condition like this, the possibility
of your bag getting stolen or probably destroyed is more than it getting returned
to you.
Walk calmly
No we are not schooling here but rushing through airport terminals can set off confusion
among fellow passengers and may cause you or others to trip. Most international
airports are crowded, busy places and if you have a real fear of getting late, inform
the flight check-in desk and walk calmly.
Stay Visible
If you are travelling alone, stay in public view. Sit in the lounge where the airport
staff can see you clearly. Keep your laptop, handbag or carry-on luggage by your
side, well within the sight.
Avoid talking to strangers
There may be some people willing to talk to you but given the present circumstances,
airport is not the place to make new friends no matter how friendly they seem.
Check security warnings
From time to time airlines and airports issue different warnings and terror threats
for public to follow. Stay updated by visiting the airline website at least three
days in advance. It will help you to avoid receiving an unwelcome surprise on your
arrival at the airport.
