Which city should you go to in September? The one that is home to the US government;
Why? Because autumn not only brings the best weather but it is also the time when
the summer crowd dispels along the scorching heat, desolating the roads, national
monuments, museums and the places you'd love to pay a visit.
Although it isn't the month of the 'Quadrennial Inauguration Day',
the biggest party in the town to hit in streets when millions celebrate the office
bearing ceremony of the President, there's always something happening in the city
that makes visiting it worthwhile.
Hire a car
for a trip to the city and take pleasure in the series of parades and festivals
including the world famous Smithsonian Folklife Festival, Cherry
Blossom Festival and the fireworks-concerts-dance-filled Independence
Day when the country moves a year closer to wisdom, there is Kennedy Centre Open
House Arts Festival - showcasing different regions and their cultural heritage;
Fiesta DC - a Latino parade featuring colorful floats, twirling dancers, world music,
craft stalls and, conceivably the most importantly, Latin American food; DC Fashion
Week - which hosts lineup of runway shows; DC Blues Festival - the all-volunteer
day long festival at Rock Creek Park's Carter Barron Amphitheater; and the Adams
Morgan Festival - which gives the lovers of jazz, funk and rock music a chance to
shake their belly.
And....what else? Vacationing in Uncle Sam's city might actually prove to be cheaper
than other urbane settlements because lodging and eating here is less expensive
than cities like Los Angeles (LA), New York, San Francisco and even Seattle. Still,
beware - the city has still the potential to set you back with heavy bills unless
you are a decent economizer.
