If you haven't explored the freedom trail of Boston, the word may conjure up
visions of dirty roads, decaying monuments, and a couple of posters loosely hanging
around the walls where some charity events take place. This was certainly how we
imagined the freedom trail for most of our time preparing for it, since no one from
the America Car Rental
team has been to one in at least a decade. But when we tagged along on a trip to
Boston last month, we could never have imagined just how off-the-hook our mental
images had been all those years.
Yes it is true that cities are certainly not everyone's idea of an offbeat place,
but not all the cities have corners intriguing enough to set foot on and hidden
enough not to be known by all and that's where the fun begins.
In Boston, you'll find that Freedom Trail events are scheduled regularly all
throughout the year, successfully bringing the city's history to a colorful
life. The Trail is made of 2.5 mile red-brick walking road that leads its visitors
to 16 nationally significant historic sites, all of which are considered authentic
American treasure. The tours usually last around 90-minutes and are conducted by
guides wearing 18th century costumes. It includes a famous walk into history, dramatic
pirates and patriots stories of the ship owners who hounded the waters off Boston
Harbor, and the Pub Crawl for visitors to see how the historic pubs looked like
where the revolution was fermented. Serving food and beer, each of these pubs let
the adults enjoy 4 different sample-size Sam Adams beers.
For those of you wondering to go to the Freedom Trail, the best time to visit is
after summer, during the holidays when the weather is pleasant.
