Traveling to offbeat locations is one of the hobbies that can successfully help
you to keep your life interesting. There are places around America that accommodate
some miraculous aura that many have failed to solve. Their legendary rumors and
myths remain mysterious to the outside world till now.
Death Valley National
Park, California
The Place: As the hottest and driest of the national parks
in the United States, the Death Valley Park gets plenty of curious visitors every
year. It is a superlative desert of wide spread sand dunes, snow-covered mountains;
bright and colorful rock layers, majestic canyons and over 3 million acres of pure
wilderness. It is also the home to the tribe of Timbisha Shoshone and to animals
and plants unique to the harshest desert.
The Mystery: Visitors have long considered this place mysterious
because of "Sailing Stones," which strangely drift along the sandy surface
of the desert on their own and leave visible tracks in their stir.
The Reality: It is widely known fact that the rocks in the
Death Valley National Park change their course once every three years. Of course,
no one has ever seen them in actual motion but some theorize that the winters are
to be blamed for that, during which strong wings (that usually reach up to 80 mph
speed) and wet clay does the actual magic. However, no one is completely sure that
what causes this natural (or unnatural) phenomena and that is what makes this national
park worth visiting.
Skinwalker Ranch
at Uintah Basin, Utah
The Place: Numerous stories are netted around this mysterious
place in middle of Utah. Though the Skinwalker Ranch has been the topic of discussion
of many hot debates but no one has been able to find logical answer to the paranormal
activities of the Ranch, a property positioned on 500 acres southeast of Ballard,
Utah.
The Mystery: This 500-acre compound is the site of many harrowing
and unexplained incidents: UFOs, roaring noises from the underground, appearance
of menacing orbs that flash light, attacks by shape-shifting witches, strange blue
lights, unusual impressions made in soil, and substantiation evidence of animal
mutilations.
The Reality: Researchers have long scratched their heads over
the unexplained phenomena of the property. According to neighboring Native American
folklore, the Skinwalker Ranch is legendary for its dark energies. It was brought
by a couple in 1994 and put into market for sale just a year later, and is managed
by the National Institute for Discovery Sciences now. The institute is a paranormal
research organization and has admitted that it is difficult to obtain evidence consistent
with scientific publication to call these claims true. One of the reasons of these
strange entities could be because of excessive magnetic field over the Skinwalker
Ranch and whether it is scary or not, the ranch attracts plenty of visitors from
all over.
Mount Shasta at
Redding, California
The Place: Located in Siskiyou County in Northern California,
Mount Shasta is considered to be the most majestic mountain by the locals. It is
the cone of a dead volcano and rises to a height of over 14,262 feet above sea level.
Mt. Shasta draws tourists from all over the world, some seeking glory in the beauty
of natural wonder, others interested in the deep spiritual insight that "mother
nature" has to offer. This unique alpine region also attracts travelers and
discoverers willing to see the mystery from their own eyes. There have been plenty
of fascinating legends and myths written about this northern California giant that
have made way to thousands of books and internet resources.
The Mystery: Mount Shasta has long been considered one of
the biggest cosmic power spots. Its stunning snow-capped peak and sacred slopes
are home to many mysteries and myths including UFO sightings and landings, underground
military base, crystal caves, encounters with aliens and it is also rumored to be
home to Lemurians, a super advanced-race believed to have existed 11,000 years.
The Reality: Though researchers have worked hard on finding
the real evidence, nothing concrete has been noted till now. Most of the beliefs
are only the rumors that people like to talk about. Plenty of writers have come
to this land to get inspired and the charismatic beauty of the Mount Shasta is enough
for them to make stories out of these tittle-tattles.
Oregon Vortex,
Gold Hill, Oregon
The Place: The Oregon vortex is said to be built on a mysterious
point few laws of physics are temporarily suspended due to interference from strong
magnetic fields. It was also featured on an episode of "The X-Files" a decade
back. Located near Southern Oregon region of Gold Hill, the Oregon Vortex has seen
astounding visitors since it opened up in 1930.
The Mystery: It is said that a spherical area of force, 80
feet in radius sits half below the ground and half above it and is contained within
the property lines. People standing inside the vortex get feel that they have shrunk
or grew longer, balls and bottles roll up hill, compasses and other such instruments
go haywire, and even a broom stands on its own. There is also a claim that people
inside the property naturally lean at an angle of 8 degrees, while believing they
are standing all straight and therefore feel dizziness.
The Reality: Whether abnormal gravity is a reason for it or
a concentration in the Earth's magnetic fields, the Oregon Vortex's weird
and wonderful phenomena is well documented and worth visiting once in your lifetime.
