Thanksgiving Parades to Watch this Year - I

The Thanksgiving days without doubt hold a special place in our hearts. Each year on this day people in costumes, marching bands, giant balloons and floats come together to display the enthusiasm and ignite the festivities.

Thinking where to watch the parade this year? Here's a run-down of the best of them from around the country:

New York, New York
Getting 3 million spectators every year, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade tops in our list of Thanksgiving parades around the US. The parade begins from Central Park West (77th Street) and travels to Columbus Circle to 7th Avenue, down to 42nd Street, 6th Avenue, 34th Street to Macy's Herald Square (34th Street). More than 50 million people worldwide remain glued to their televisions on this day to capture the live magic of parade's jumbo balloons including Mickey, Snoopy, Donald and Kermit the Frog, bands of merry clowns, festive floats, and plenty of costumed characters.

To get a good viewing spot many arrive before 6:00 a.m. to stake out space along the parade's route. If you are planning to do the same, wear a lot of warm clothes and carry a flask full of hot cocoa or coffee as sometimes it can be quite cold. Parade's duration depends on where you are standing - near the route's commencement, it lasts about 1 hour and closer to Macy's, it extends up to 3 hours. If you are planning to stay at New York a little while longer, you can also book any hotel room which gives a view of the parade.

Plymouth, Massachusetts
With the opening ceremony beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Waterfront with a Military Flyover, the parade passes through Benny's Plaza (Route 3A) to downtown till the Plymouth Waterfront. Incidentally, Plymouth is also the town where the Thanksgiving holiday originated. Fun on its streets extends out for the entire weekend before the formal Turkey Day with events glorifying America's earliest settlers. The parade's soundtrack is composed by musicians carrying an array of instruments including bugle and drum corps and military bands, while vintage American cars parade throughout the town.

So, if you are planning to reach any of the destinations above to be a part of the American tradition don't hesitate to call us or visit America Car Rental home page to rent a car in USA online.
