Airport (RSW). It is located in Southern Fort Myers region of unincorporated
Lee County and is a public county-owned airport. The major areas served by airport's
services include Fort Myers, Naples, Sanibel Island, Bonita Springs,
and Captiva Island. It also serves as a centre city for AirTran Airways.
In 2009, around 7,700,000 landed or took their flights from Southwest
Florida International Airport (RSW). Such huge number makes this airport
as one of the top 50 busiest airports in passenger traffic in America. The term
RSW was initially assigned for "Regional South-West", but the airport
was renamed in 1993 after its renovation. It was felt that the existing airport
was not capable to handle the inbound and outbound traffic and therefore it was
renovated and given a totally new look.

are defined by different zones you travel into and not by meters. However, these
zone rates are tightly regulated by the Port Authority and therefore cannot exceed
the listed rates. The rate mentioned in the list is valid for up to 3 passengers;
every additional passenger is charged at the rate of $10 extra.
These rates are inclusive of any toll charges and are regulated only from Regional
South-West (RSW) airport to your destination. Charges to the airport
from different locations are not regulated by the Port Authority.
Rental Car
For passengers interested in hiring a car from the airport, the Car Rental Service
Center of the airport is located on the ground level, near to the parking garage.
Passengers arriving from outside can go downstairs and walk towards the 'rent
a car in Fort Myers' facility after exiting from the baggage claim
section. While returning the rented vehicle after your trip to Fort Myers gets over,
you can follow the signs for Rental Car Return as soon as you approach
the terminal building. The rented cars can be parked on the lower level of the parking
garage.
For the off-site rented car, the shuttle pickup point of parking is on the eastern
end of the parking garage on the lower level. Passengers can walk to the end of
the parking garage and around the left side to avail shuttle service.
Bus
Greyhound (239-334-1011; Address: 2250 Peck St) runs regular
services to and fro from the Regional South-West (RSW) airport.
Another bus service, called LeeTran (www.rideleetran.com; 239-533-8726,
Address: 6035 Landing View Rd., Ft. Myers, FL 33907) connects airport
to the downtown. LeeTran is jointly operated by the Lee County Government and the
Board of Commissioners of Lee County. It has 18 fixed bus routes on which it operates
and last year it gave rides to around 3 million passengers. For residents and visitors
who wish to park their vehicles on For Myers Beach, LeeTran offers them a "Park
and Ride" trolley service as well.
Working hours are from Monday through Saturday, 5:00 a.m. to 9:45 p.m.,
with limited Sunday service on selected routes.
