Owned and operated by the Hawai'i State Department of Transportation, the Hilo International Airport is located quite near to the downtown Hilo. It is one of the two major airports on Hawai'i Island and servers most of Eastern Hawai'i, together with the districts of Puna, Hilo, Hamakua and Ka'u. Majority of the flights to the ITO are from Honolulu International Airport by Hawaiian Airlines.

Taxi

The Hilo city has around 17 taxi cab companies that offer services wthin the city as well as to and from the airport. Taxis can be found at the taxi lane in front of the Baggage Claim Area.

The meter starts from $3.00 + $.30 per 1/8th mile + $.30 per minute for waiting time + $1.00 per bag. Waiting time is added when the taxi is required to make stops prior to reaching its final destination.

Car Rental

The Hilo car rental centre is located at the end of baggage claim area, right next to the exit section. If you are arriving in the city; follow the rental car signboards after collecting you baggage.
