Owned by the City of New Orleans, Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is located 10 nautical miles (19 km) west of the city's central business district. Before the infamous Hurricane Katrina, the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) served nearly 10 million passengers each year, a number that fell to a little over 7 million in 2009, a decrease of 2.5% over the previous year. It is also the world's 2nd lowest-lying international airport, second only to Amsterdam's Schiphol International Airport, which is constructed eleven feet below the sea level.

Airport Shuttle

Easy to take, the airport shuttle transports passengers to and from Downtown & Uptown New Orleans locations, Hotels, Convention Center, and the Cruise Terminals. Taxi

Usual fare from airport to Central Business District casts $33 for maximum two persons. Additional passengers are charged at the rate of $14. No more than 3 passengers with luggage are allowed to share the same cab. Pick-up point is located on the lower level, immediately outside the baggage claim area. Carry your credit card as most cab drivers do not accept cash.

The Airport-Downtown Express

Bus pick up stop is located on the upper level, outside the airport Entrance #7. The fare for Airport-Downtown Express is $2. The Airport Express or E-2 runs daily from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) to downtown.

The New Orleans car rental centre is located at the end of baggage claim area, right next to the exit section.
