Getting around in Chicago
By Bus
Also run by Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), the bus track are unbelievably
fast and reliable. The buses follow all the major thoroughfares including -
north to south and east to west. Before planning your day out, pick up system
maps from any Chicago Transit Authority station that are available free of cost.
Fare for single ride on both CTA's El and buses is $2. You can also opt
for plastic card tickets that allow commuters to add as much fare as they'd
like (maximum up to $100). Fares are automatically deducted when a commuter
boards the bus or enters the El system.
The cheapest way around the city is to buy visitor passes that will cost you %5
(one day), $9 (two days) and $12 (three days).
You can even buy these passes online from www.yourcta.com
and they'll get mailed at your residence address. Please give atleast one week's
time for the passes to reach you.
Trolley

6:00 pm. The trolley has four routes that connect all the major sights of the
town - Blue Trolley runs from River North to Navy Pier; Green Trolley from
the Loop to Museum Campus and Hyde Park; Red Trolley from the Gold Coast till
the Loop; and the Yellow Trolley connects The Loop with Navy Pier.
Car Hire
Car Hire in Chicago
is definitely worth "going in" for as it will give you the independence
to see the city at your own pace. Generally, a person between the age brackets
of 18 to 75 years with a valid license is allowed to drive a private, non-commercial
vehicle in the city. If you like to drive, don't forget to carry your driver's
license. For foreigners International Driving Permit is compulsory.
Depending on the way you're travelling, there are many types of car rental services in Chicago that can make
it convenient for you to move comfortably between hotels, places of interest,
restaurants and airports. Pick from economy vehicles to go for a trip around the
city to full size vehicles for longer inter-city excursions - all at best
prices.
