Getting around in Honolulu
By Taxi
Taxis are easily available everywhere to take you to your destination. Most taxi
drivers are "ambassadors or aloha". Those born here can become your unofficial
guide to as they enjoy pointing to the landmarks and places of interest as they
drive.
Before you take a taxi, inquire about the fare. Tips at 20% are normal,
the rates quoted, does not include tips.
Car Hire
If you are planning to visit Honolulu for more than a couple of days, you should
probably rent a car
in Honolulu. It will make your trip more comfortable. Though parking at
some places can prove to be a hassle and expensive, but to get to Pearl Harbor,
North Shore, and many other places would need you to have an automobile.
Usually a person between the age brackets of 18 to 75 years with a valid license
is allowed to drive a private, non-commercial vehicle in the city. If you
like to drive, don't forget to carry your driver's license. For foreigners,
International Driving Permit is compulsory.
Depending on the way you're travelling, there are many types of Honolulu car rental services that can make it
convenient for you to move comfortably between hotels, places of interest,
restaurants and airports. Pick from economy vehicles to go for a trip around the
city to full size vehicles for longer inter-city excursions - all at best
prices.
