Public Transportation
Website: www.vta.org
Public transportation in San Jose is provided by Santa Clara Valley Transportation
Authority (VTA) which covers more than 43 miles of distance through San
Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale and Campbell and Mountain View. If you are
planning to spend your vacations visiting the outskirts of the city, then going
through VTA operated vehicle can be a good option.
You can by a day's pass at $6 and can use buses and Light Rail lines all
day. The route #10 of VTA serves as a free shuttle between the airport,
Caltrain Santa Clara Station, and Light Rail - Metro/Airport Station.
DASH (Downtown Area Shuttle), VTA Route #201 is another free service
connecting downtown San Jose with the San Jose Diridon Transit Center.
Car Hire
San Jose Car Hire
is definitely worth "going in" for as it is a place that must be discovered
at your own pace. Usually a person between the age brackets of 18 to 75 years with
a valid license is allowed to drive a private, non-commercial vehicle in
the city. If you like to drive, don't forget to carry your driver's
license. For foreigners, International Driving Permit is compulsory.
Depending on the way you're travelling, there are many types of San Jose car rental services that can make it
convenient for you to move comfortably between hotels, places of interest,
restaurants and airports. Pick from economy vehicles to go for a trip around the
city to full size vehicles for longer inter-city excursions - all at best
prices.
